The Data Entry Certificate Program is offered for students who desire to enter employment directly after completion of this two semester program or for students who desire to pursue an associate degree in the Computer Information Systems Program at SWCID or Howard College.

• Filing clerk
• Clerical duties

Working In Places Such As:

• Business
• Government agencies
• Hospitals
• Private companies (i.e. banks and hospitals)

Prerequisites

• ENGL 0322
• MATH 0302
• Program Entrance Test
• ITSC 1309 and / or interview with the CIS / Business Coordinator. 
• Students who lack a proficiency in sign communication may be required to enroll in SLNG 1304, SLNG 1305, or SLNG 1344 until proficiency is attained.
• Students who lack a proficiency in keyboarding speed and accuracy may be required to enroll in *POFT 1127.

2Elective must be a 3-credit hour COSC or BUSI course.  The suggested courses are COSC 13094, BUSI 1301, 1ACNT 13034, ITSE 23134, or COSC 23704.  Students are encouraged to consult the CIS/Business Coordinator since students’ goals vary. 
3Students may be allowed to register for ITSC 2380 in spring semester to complete the cooperative education in the spring semester, the following summer or the following fall semester only.  Students must provide their own transportation to and from co-op sites.  For more information, students must see the CIS/Business Coordinator.
