IntroductionThe 2011 Summer College Prep Program is an intensive 4-day a week program for 4 weeks in each Summer I and II Session for those with a High School diploma or G.E.D. Labs are included in each Reading and Writing courses. The Summer College Prep Program will have educational field trips on Fridays, and write about their educational field trip experiences.
Deadline to determine Course Placement for the SWCID 2011 Summer College Prep Program is Thursday, May 26, 2011. Information on Course Placement is below. Course Schedule: Mondays to Fridays for 4 weeks in each Summer Session- Summer I – June 13 to July 7
- ENGLISH 0311 – DEVELOPMENTAL READING I
- ENGLISH 0321– DEVELOPMENTAL WRITING I
- Summer II – July 11 to August 4
- ENGLISH 0312 – DEVELOPMENTAL READING II
- ENGLISH 0322 – DEVELOPMENTAL WRITING II
Course PlacementTo ensure that you are placed in the appropriate level of Reading and Writing, you will need to take both the ACCUPLACER Screening and ACT Test, preferably in your hometown. We will provide ACCUPLACER Screening tests during New Student Orientation Day if needed.
➢ ACT Test: Minimum of composite score of 10 or higher is required.
➢ ACCUPLACER SCORES for DEVELOPMENTAL READING
- ENGLISH 0311 – Development Reading I: Score of 33-48; and,
- ENGLISH 0312 – Developmental Reading II: Score of 49-64.
➢ ACCUPLACER SCORES for DEVELOPMENTAL WRITING
- ENGLISH 0321 – Developmental Writing I: 41-59; and,
- ENGLISH 0322 – Developmental Writing II: 60-79.
New Student OrientationNew Student Orientation and ACCUPLACER Screening Tests will be held on the Sunday before the start of each Summer Session according to the following schedules:
- Summer Session I
Sunday, June 12, 2011 ACCUPLACER Screening Tests: 9:00AM NSO: 2:00PM - Summer Session II
Sunday, July 10, 2011 ACCUPLACER Screening Tests: 9:00AM NSO: 2:00PM
Drop Course DeadlineStudents may drop the class on the last day of the summer session. Refer to refunds in the SWCID Tuition and Fixed Fees page.
