2012 AITP National Collegiate Conference

The Association for Information Technology Professionals (AITP) held their 2012 conference in San Antonio, Texas on March 29-31, 2012.  Total attendance was 775 with 538 being IT students from 71 colleges and universities throughout the U.S. Howard College San Angelo student chapter members attending the conference included Juan Mireles (President), Raul Conover (Vice President), Mark Martinez, and Gilbert Dominguez, along with their faculty advisor, Nita Browne (Program Director for CIS).
 
AITP is a leading worldwide society of professionals in information technology.  It is comprised of professionals working in the IT field and student chapters studying to work in the IT field. The conference brings together leading names in the IT field such as Microsoft/Certiport, IBM, State Farm, USAA, and Robert Half Technology. Members have the opportunity to visit career booths for employment interviews as well as break-out sessions.
 
In addition, student chapters had the opportunity to compete in a number of contests that included Microsoft Office Solutions, PC Troubleshooting, Business Analytics, Security, Database Design, Network Design, Programming (Visual Studio.net, Cobol, Java, Mobile Applications, RPG), Graphics Communications, and Web Design.
 
From HCSA, we are pleased to recognize the achievements of these students in their competitions:
  • Juan Mireles – PC Troubleshooting – Honorable Mention (Placed in the top 10 of 160 competitors)
  • Raul Conover - Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA): Networking Fundamentals Certification
  • Gilbert Dominguez - Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA): Security Fundamentals Certification
