The
Concho Valley School-To-Work/Tech Prep Partnership is a 26 member
board representing employers, school districts, government agencies,
postsecondary institutions and community based organizations in the
13 county Concho Valley Region. The board and staff of the
Partnership are responsible for implementing the Tech Prep grant
funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the
School-To-Work grant funded by the Texas Workforce
Commission.
The Concho Valley School-To-Work/Tech Prep Partnership will assist independent school districts, community colleges, universities, community-based organizations, and employers in implementing School-To-Work and Tech Prep activities in the Concho Valley Region. By participating in Tech Prep and School-To-Work activities, the following benefits are realized:
Students are better prepared for the future. They are able to earn college credit while in high school if they participate in Tech Prep. They are also able to learn about a wide variety of career and educational opportunities while participating in School-To-Work activities.
Employers benefit by being able to choose from more qualified employees. Students who participate in School-To-Work activities can learn a variety of skills necessary in any occupation. Tech Prep students learn technical skills as they complete Tech Prep courses.
Schools benefit by receiving subgrants and professional development opportunities for teachers, counselors, and administrators. Students participating in this program also display decreased absenteeism, increased scores on achievement tests, and increased self-esteem.
