Health Information Technology

Howard College offers a competency-based program in Health Information Technology and Medical Transcription. Completion of the Associated of Applied Science degree (AAS) in Health Information Technology entitles the graduate to be eligible to write the national examination for a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). The AAS program in HIT is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) in cooperation with the American Health Information Management Association's (AHIMA) Council on Accreditation (COA). Successful completion of a criminal background check is required for enrollment in all Health Professions programs.

Medical Transcription

Completion of the Medical Transcription Certificate Level I qualifies the student to take the written element of the two-part Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) examination. Successful completion of a criminal background check is required for enrollment in all Health Professions programs.
