Handbook of Texas
Online, searchable and browseable
this encyclopedia contains over 23,000 articles on Texas people, places,
events, history, and other topics. From a collaborative effort of the
University of Texas at Austin and the Texas State Historical Association.
The Catholic Encyclopedia,
this online version of the 1917 work includes articles on the people, places,
and things concerning Catholicism
Self-Reliance
The Household Cyclopedia of General
Information, 1881 encyclopedia filled with articles on practical how-to
information. Useful for some tasks such as making soap or fermenting wine
but some information, such as on medicine, is obviously dated.
Social Science
The Borderlands Encyclopedia,
from an office of the University of Texas at El Paso, this site provides
information about the border area between the United States and Mexico
