March's Thoughts on Howard College

Why Howard College?
I spoke to other military spouses like myself who had really good experiences at Howard. I had been out of school for almost ten years and I was terrified at the thought of college. The small class sizes and the unpretentiousness of Howard really appealed to me.

Why General Studies?
Taking classes at Howard helped shape that decision. I actually started out taking nursing prerequisites so I could apply for the LVN program. After my first year here I decided that I really wanted to take more classes and work towards a bachelor’s degree. An AS in General Studies is a good starting point for that.

Career Goals
I plan on working towards a BBA in Accounting and hopefully, eventually an MBA.

Best Studying Advice
Take the time to study every day even if it’s only for a few minutes. You’ll save yourself a lot of stress and anxiety at test time.

Most Valuable Learning Experience
Success isn’t based on how smart you are, but on how hard you work.

Relax and Have Fun
I like the Riverwalk. It’s one of the more scenic places in San Angelo and my kids have a lot of fun there.

What I like most about Howard College
I like that none of the staff takes themselves too seriously.  The teachers are really there to teach, not to hear themselves lecture.

What I tell future Howard College students
Beware the soda machine in C hall. It sells mini water bottles. Just joking. I’d tell them to make the most of their time here because it will be over before they know it.
