Phase 1

  • Develop eLearning Faculty Manual
  • Develop iPad/Tablet and eReader Manual
  • Map out an online degree, based upon online courses currently offered at HC. 
  • Survey faculty about instructional trainings needed
    • Via survey monkey
    • Via faculty forum at each campus
  • Dean’s will nominate eLearning mentors, one or two per campus, certify mentors as Howard College campus instructional trainers who will assist faculty with group or one-on-one training sessions.
  • Implement instructional trainings for faculty.
    • Identify campus specific trainings
    • Promote/advertise instructional trainings
  • Gather information from faculty and administrators throughout the district about eLearning concerns, pedagogical structure for online classes, and obstacles faculty and students face with eLearning at Howard College in the form of a eLearning faculty forum
    • Survey monkey results.
    • Via faculty forum at each campus
  • Filter gathered information through the eLearning Steering committee for comments and or suggestions.
  • Design a Pedagogical structure for online classes (Modular Approach?)-  pilot this approach with  STEM online classes in Spring 2013.
  • Organize an eLearning academic review committee who will serve as a vital party in approving new online/hybrid courses and review existing online/hybrid courses.

Phase 2

  • Launch a pedagogical approach in all online classes and required all faculty to be HC and QM eLearning certified by spring 2014.
  • Create mandatory online student orientation module for all online and hybrid courses by spring 2014.


Phase 3

  • Create dedicated eLearning student resources that will promote student success.
    • Online course advisor
    • Online tutoring
  • Offer ITV training in Spring 2014

Phase 4

  • Implement and provide a clear map to online degree programs at Howard College.
    • Provide consistent online course offerings each semester to aid students in obtaining an online degree.
