The Harold Davis Fitness Center is named for former coach and present member of the Howard College Board of Trustees Harold Davis. Along with lovely wife Janell, Davis is an ardent supporter of this community-oriented college.
Originally the Center was to contain a Super Circuit to serve the students, faculty, and staff. But, with the guidance and strong support of Dr. Cheryl T. Sparks, President of Howard College, the Center has grown to contain not only a state-of-the-art Super Circuit, it has a 19 lap per mile walking track and a cardiovascular area with three treadmills, four recumbent stationary bikes, two stair masters and various other stations for use by the members. The latest addition is a "free weight room". The machines are by Body Masters, which are among the best in the industry. Full service dressing rooms are provided for both men and women. Each has adequate locker space which may be used while the member is in the building. Items are not to be left in lockers overnight.
The Center now serves more than 1,000 members which include student, employee, and community clients. Six athletic teams and the college cheerleaders also use the Center on a daily basis for their training program.
Cory Pack took over as the Fitness Center Director on July 1, 2004. Cory received his Bachelor's of Science in Exercise and Sport Studies from Tarleton State Univerisity.
