   Head Coach Greg Kernick

In his sixth season at Howard College, Greg Kernick is leaving a mark throughout the Southwest Region. Coach Kernick has been a part of collegiate rodeo for more than 15 years. Thus, bringing the experience and success of not only a competitor but also a coach. The opportunity to achieve a national championship is a goal that Kernick has had since the beginning of his career.
Having spent five seasons at Cochise College in the Grand Canyon Region, of which consisted of five consecutive journeys to the CNFR, Kernick was excited about the move to HOWARD COLLEGE. "The Southwest Region is definitely one of the top regions in the nation," said Kernick. Prior to his stay at Cochise, Kernick was an assistant at his alma mater, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, for two years.
Coach Kernick understands the importance of a college education, having graduated from Pratt (Kansas) Community College with an Associate's of Applied Science, OPSU with a Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness and Agricultural Education; and a Master's degree from Northern Arizona University in Educational Leadership. "Not everyone will make a living in the rodeo business, but it is nice to stay involved," said Kernick.
Although not retired from rodeo itself, Kernick still competes on a limited basis, mainly in the team roping. "As you get older your priorities change, not that I don't miss the competition, I have a family and a program to take care of," said Kernick.
Greg and his wife Rhonda have one son, Trevor, and one daughter, Kaylee. Trevor has already started his rodeo career at the local playdays. Big Spring is "home" to the Kernick family.

   Assistant Coach Jennifer Driver

"Being on both sides of the fence" is what makes Howard College's assistant rodeo coach an asset to the program. Jennifer Driver comes to Howard with two Collegiate National Championships under her belt. Jennifer has completed in rodeo all of her life through the junior rodeo, high school, college ranks and today in amateur and professional rodeos. While Jennifer has competed in all events, she now concentrates on roping and barrel racing.
Jennifer graduated from Tarleton State University with a bachelor degree in Business Administration. It was at Tarleton where she excelled in NIRA competition. She was a College National Finals qualifier all four years and the 1999 National Champion All-Around in Barrel Racing. Jennifer is very excited to get the opportunity to coach a sport she feels so passionate about, and to be able to do it at one of the top junior colleges in the toughest regions in the nation, only makes it better.
Hard work is so stranger to Jennifer. She was born and raised on a ranch in Central Texas and is still strongly involved in the ranching business today. She believes in a strong work ethic whether in the practice arena or classroom. "Success comes in many forms" says Jennifer "it can be at the rodeo, walking across the graduations stage, or gaining lifelong friends. Our job as coaches is to help our students to succeed."
Jennifer and her husband Dane have one daughter, Jorday. The Drivers reside on a ranch in the Big Spring area where they operate a cattle and hunting operation.

   Assistant Coach Larry Sandridge

This is Larry Sandridge. In his third year with the Hawk teams, Larry is no stranger to the task at hand. Sandridge, a native to the Big Spring area, enjoys working with livestock and farming. Larry spent eight years in a farming and ranching position. Having been self-employed as a contract welder for Conoco for over eighteen years, Larry brings mechanical and maintenance skills to Howard College.
In his free time, Larry enjoys riding horses and gathering cattle for local ranchers. Larry has nine grandchildren all within the area. Spending time with his family and friends are moments to cherish.
