Coach Diddle, with more than 30 years of coaching men’s basketball, has taken charge of the Howard College Women’s Basketball Program. Coach Diddle is embracing the move to Howard College with a contagious enthusiasm. Coach Diddle’s basketball expertise and experience has captured for him an accumulated lifetime record of 384-and-252, which is a winning percentage of 60%.
Coach Diddle brings a variety of experiences from various academic levels including high school, junior college, NAIA, NCAA Divisions I and II, and preparation for the National Olympic Team for the United Arab Emirates. From this, he has gathered recognition from his colleagues as an effective teacher/coach of the game and as an outstanding recruiter nationally and world-wide.
Learning from the best and teaching the best defines Coach Diddle’s career as he played college basketball under ex-NBA Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Bill Mussleman.
In addition, Coach Diddle has been associated with many players playing in the NBA, CBA, and overseas, including the legendary Larry Bird, former Boston Celtic great, former coach of the Indiana Pacers, and member of the NBA Hall of Fame.
Coach Diddle’s remarkable accomplishments over the past 32 years include:
United Arab Emirates, National Coach
- Defeated Japan (16th ranked team in the world) in 13th annual Asian Games, the biggest win in United Arab Emirates basketball history.
- Finished 8th in 13th Annual Asian Games, Bangkok, Thailand, the highest finish in national history.
- Finished 7th in Jones Cup Tournament in Taipei, Taiwan, the highest finish in national history.
- Finished 3rd in Asian Pro Tournament in Hong Kong, China, the best finish in national history.
Eastern New Mexico University (record 156-124)
- Is the second winningest coach in ENMU basketball history with 156 wins.
- Ranked in NCAA Division II top 20 in 7-of-10 seasons.
- Advanced to Lone Star conference semifinals in five of 10 seasons.
- First ENMU Coach to take a program to NCAA Division II playoffs and Sweet 16.
- Defeated NCAA Division I University of New Mexico in the famed “Pit.”
- Founded and developed the largest basketball camp in New Mexico with over 2,000 campers per year.
Panhandle State University (record 60-40)
- Ranked 8th nationally during the 1986-1987 season.
- Qualified twice in three years for NAIA playoffs.
- Defeated NCAA Division I West Texas State.
Other accomplishments Include:
- Member of East Liverpool Hall of Fame along with football coaching legend Lou Holtz.
- Youngest 5A head coach in Ohio High School basketball history. Won the 1975 Sectional Championship.
- Given credit for 25th ranked recruiting class by Street and Smith Magazine in 1981 while at Indiana State University.
- Has appeared nationally and world-wide as a basketball clinician.
