Howard college was created in 1945, and was first housed two miles west of downtown Big Spring, Texas in the hospital area of the former Air Force Bombardier School. The first session began on September 30, 1946. Howard College moved to their current site in 1951 and has been expanding ever since.

The LVN, RN and Transition Nursing Programs are based at the Big Spring campus in the Horace Garrett Building and include a well-equipped Skills Lab. The LVN program has a branch at the San Angelo campus. Since June 2003, the didactic portion of the second year of the RN program has taken place in the online learning environment.

Clinical rotations are excellent and varied. We are fortunate to have Affiliation Agreements with many hospitals and clinics in the Big Spring and San Angelo areas, and a very special clinical rotation at UMC in Lubbock and the U.S. Army Research Burn Unit in San Antonio.
