BACKGROUND AND CAREER INFORMATION:
The Emergency Care Attendant Certification course is a non-credit course conducted by the EMT/Paramedic and Continuing Education Departments of Howard College. This course is generally taken by persons in rural communities who are interested in volunteering on a community EMS (Ambulance) service.
COURSE HOURS:
Minimum course hours include 40 hours of classroom time such as:
Lecture
Discussion
Skills, including all of the following:
1. Patient Assessment and Vital Signs
2. Bandaging and Splinting
3. Mechanical Aids to Breathing
4. Spinal Immobilization
5. Aids to Respiration
Howard College ECA instructors will come to the community and teach the class "in-house".
