Wesley's Thoughts on SWCID

I want to focus on education and become successful to graduate from SWCID and Howard College.

Why Office Technology & Administration?
My family advised me to choose this wonderful major program – Office Technology Certificate program. I hope to work in a federal government agency or private company.

Future Plans and Goals?
I hope to graduate with a certificate and an AAS degree and get a job in Internal Revenue Service (IRS), a federal government or a private company. I also hope to study for a bachelor’s degree. I will like to travel abroad for up to 1 ½ weeks to learn about culture.

Favorite Professor
Vasant Limaye, Professor in Computers/Business Department. He has been encouraging me to do my best. He advises me to have patience and study on time to be successful. I would like to be a good role model for deaf community that deaf people can work in office technology related fields.

My Awards / Honors

  • Outstanding Student Award for Office Technology Certificate Program for 2012-2013
  • Outstanding Student Award for Office Administration AAS Degree Program for 2013-2014
  • Honors List of Excellence for fall, 2013

My Clubs and Organizations

  • Academic College Bowl
  • Terra Humanitas (New Student Organization at SWCID to travel and study abroad)

Advice to Other Students
Do not postpone to study. Be sure to complete your homework on time. Be responsible as a college student.

Most valuable learning experience at SWCID?
Do not give up and concentrate on learning in my favorite major program – office technology program.

Where do you relax and have fun
Go out of town and spend time with my family.

What I like most about SWCID
All my teachers know sign language. I am able to communicate with students and teachers on campus. It was interesting to go to Atlanta, Georgia in July, 2014 to participate in the College Bowl.

What I tell future SWCID students
If you are very committed to graduate from college and take studies seriously, you will be successful in your future.
